Day 9 Renmark to Werrimull
Woke to a cloudy sky with the prediction of rain all day. Well the prediction was pretty accurate. The rain started nearly as soon as we had packed the trucks and as we set off.
It wasn't heavy to start with but by the afternoon it was constant. Headwind from the start if the day and apparently got stronger as the day went on. Needless to say, not the easiest day of the trip.
Morning tea was at a rest area which Collis predicted to be at 45 kms but ended up closer to 50kms.
Rain and wind to lunch as well. They were able to get off the Sturt Hwy around 10 kms after lunch although Collis had told them it was 2kms down the road- some started coming back after 4kms but all got sorted out. Lunch was at Meringur Pioneer Village still raining.
Poor Carolyn has broken another spoke (no.3) and Peter has a broken ratchet (ratshit ratchet) and they will go into Mildura tomorrow. Maureen came off her bike at morning tea with stomach cramps. We got her to do a RAT just in case and when it came back negetive I still asked her to keep the mask on just in case it is gastro.
We arrived at Werrimull and booked out all the rooms in the pub. Collis and I and 5 riders had to camp. They allowed us to camp in the backyard. Maureen looks much better and managed to eat a big meal.
